Surrendering
*** Due to the overwhelming number of lost and stray animals that we are currently receiving, Socares is not in a position to be able to consider any surrendered animals ***
If you have a dog or cat that you can no longer care for, we may be able to help.
Please read what is stated below before you submit a surrender application:
Socares is firstly an impounding facility for the lost and stray animals of the Central Coast. We can ONLY accept surrendered animals if we have the room available and IF an animal will cope in our facility environment. We CANNOT accept dangerous animals for rehoming. BEFORE an animal is accepted by Socares, a full behavioural assessment will be conducted by our staff.
A pound environment is very stressful for most animals and should only be used as a last resort. Have you contacted all rescue groups (there are many within the Central Coast/Hunter areas) to check if they can assist you?
Have you approached suitable family and friends to see if they are interested in adopting your pet?
If your pet has behavioural issues, have you tried a professional animal trainer?
Completing a surrender application does not automatically guarantee that your pet will be accepted by Socares.
A surrender fee will apply.
